Starting October 31st, world leaders will gather in Glasgow, Scotland to convene the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26). As recent reports document, some disastrous outcomes of global warming are now inescapable. In this year alone, we’ve witnessed extreme weather events such as fires, floods, and storms that were previously only seen once in a generation. Now they are likely to be our new normal.

With these new realities before us, there is a heightened focus on COP26 and the commitments of the Paris Agreement by major media outlets and people all over the world. And we’re taking advantage of the attention.

EARTHDAY.ORG is going to Glasgow and we’re delivering a message that failure to fight effectively against climate change is no longer acceptable. Sign our petition to the negotiators at COP26 and we’ll deliver it in person, to their doorstep, for the world to see.

We can’t let world leaders off the hook any longer.

________

We, the undersigned, want the leaders of governments across the globe to know that we will be watching them at COP26.

We call on them to commit once and for all to:

- Reduce greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the 2015 Paris Agreement.

- Allocate significant financial resources to developing countries to help them mitigate the effects of climate change.

- Agree to make climate literacy mandatory in their educational systems.

- Provide substantial financial support to building the green economy infrastructure that will help us transition from fossil fuels.

Time is running out and we’ve already begun to see the devastating effects of climate change on the planet and to its people. Words without action will no longer be acceptable.
