Whether you signed up as a volunteer last week, last year, or all the way back for the first Earth Day in 1970: Thank you for spreading a message of optimism around the world. Because of you and thousands of volunteers like you, this message has been true for 50 years:

We'll send you emails in the months ahead (not too many, we promise) with ways for you to turn Earth Day's energy into organized, coordinated, and effective action as we make progress this year and get ready for the next April 22.
If you want to share what you did on Earth Day to inspire others, you can do it here.
But first, here is what you helped to accomplish on Earth Day's 50th Anniversary.
100 million people interacted with some aspect of the Earth Day Network material which you helped to spread. Countless more saw digital material from our allies, partners, and supporters. That included:
- Tens of millions of interactions with Earth Day social media that volunteers like you sent far and wide
- Over 1.2 million views of the Earth Day digital event map, which had 1,700 events in 50 languages on every continent -- including Antarctica.
- 2 million attendees at a digital rally for environmental protection
Of course, the stories that mattered most happened near you. We can't count all of the children who were inspired into a life of stewardship. We have no way of measuring all of the local and national leaders who resolved that they could do better for our planet. There isn't a number to show all of the scientists, conservationists, and volunteers who saw proof that their work is appreciated everywhere.
But we hope that you saw some of that near you. Your part in all of this mattered, and it will matter going forward. If you want to share what you did or saw, you can join others here, but if you'd rather keep it personal take some time to reflect that you're part of one of the world's best causes: making a planet that's better for everyone. Thanks for making Earth Day matter. We'll be in touch again soon.
Sincerely,
Earth Day Network
